Project Manager IAMD US Army, PEO Missiles and Space
Colonel Phil Rottenborn currently serves as the Project Manager for the Integrated Air & Missile Defense Project Office. He attended the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base. Previously, he served as the Product Manager, Joint Air-to-Ground Missile, PEO Missiles and Space, from 2014-2017 during the transition of the program from the Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction phase to the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase. Prior to that, he served as Executive Officer, Program Executive for Programs and Integration, Missile Defense Agency. From 2009-2013, Colonel Rottenborn served in various Assistant Product Manager (APM) positions in the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Project Office, Missile Defense Agency, supporting the transition of the program from development through initial production and fielding to the Army.
From 2007-2009, Colonel Rottenborn served as Lead Program Integrator, Future Combat Systems, Defense Contract Management Agency, Huntington Beach, CA. While in this assignment, he deployed to Iraq in 2007 and Kuwait in 2008 to perform contingency contract administration support. He commanded the 546th Maintenance Company, Fort Polk, LA from 2002-2004, culminating in a deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. From 1997-2001, he held various leadership and staff positions in the 142d Corps Support Battalion, Fort Polk, LA and in the 44th Corps Support Battalion, Fort Lewis, WA. Colonel Rottenborn enlisted in 1992 as a Light Infantryman and served in both the active and National Guard components from 1992-1997, including a multi-national peacekeeping deployment in the Sinai Peninsula with the 82d Airborne Division.
Colonel Rottenborn is a 1997 Reserve Officer Training Corps graduate of Virginia Tech, where he earned the degree of Bachelor of Arts in History. He later earned a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University, a Master of Business Administration degree in Systems Acquisition Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from the Air War College. His military education includes Senior Service College, U.S. Army Intermediate Level Education, the Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course, and the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course.
Colonel Rottenborn’s awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, and the Parachutist Badge. He resides in Owens Cross Roads, AL with his wife, Amie, and their children Clare, Jack, and Henry.
