Chief of Air and Missile Defense Integration US Army Space and Missile Defense Command

COL Chad D. Skaggs serves as the Chief, Air and Missile Defense Integration, United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command.  


Command assignments include: Battalion Commander, 2nd Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery Regiment (PATRIOT) at Ft. Hood Texas where he executed a battalion PCS to Camp Carroll, Republic of Korea; Strategic/Theater Missile Warning Center Crew Commander, Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center, North American Aerospace Defense Command, Colorado Springs Colorado; Battery Commander, Delta Battery 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery (Avenger/Stinger), 1st Cavalry Division, at Fort Hood Texas

COL Skaggs is a 1991 graduate of Westminster College where he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology and a ROTC commission into the United States Army, Air Defense Artillery.  He is a graduate of the Joint and Combined Warfighting School and the Army Force Management School.  He holds a Masters of Strategic Studies from the United States Marine Corps Senior Service College. 


COL Skaggs’ awards and decorations include: the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2OLC), National Defense Service Medal (1OLC), South West Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (5th award), Kuwait Liberation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award (1OLC), Army Superior Unit Award,  Parachutist Badge, and the Army Space Badge


He and his wife Stacy, have been married for twenty-four years and they have two children; their daughter Morgan and son Walker.  The family currently resides in Huntsville, Alabama.
